Debt of Honour Register. In Memory of WILLIAM NORQUAY. Lance Corporal, 2502, 17th Bn., Australian Infantry, A.I.F who died on Thursday 9 May 1918. Age 26. Additional Information: Son of James G. and Catherine Norquay, of Quoyness House, Flotta Island, Orkney, Scotland. Cemetery: FRANVILLERS COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION Somme, France Grave or Reference Panel Number: I. A. 21. Location: Franvillers is a village and district in the Department of the Somme, and stands on high ground above the River Ancre. It is on the D929 Amiens (19 kilometres) to Albert (10 kilometres) road. The Communal Cemetery and Extension are south-east of the village on the C201 road. Historical Information: The Extension was used from April to August, 1918, by units and Field Ambulances engaged in the Defence of Amiens. There are now 200, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. The cemetery covers an area of 1,278 square metres and is enclosed on the North-West and South-West sides by a wall.

Erected by JAMES G and CATHERINE NORQUAY in loving memory of their children ADAM I NORQUAY Leading Seaman R.N.R. H.M.S Pentstemon who died in Bighi Hospital, Malta by accident at sea 27th Oct 1917 aged 21 years. Also Corpl WILLIAM I NORQUAY 17th Batt. 5th brigade A..F who was killed in action in France 9th May 1918 aged 26 years and ANNIE L NORQUAY who died 25th March 1917 aged 17 years. Also JEMIMA CATHERINE and BETSY who died in infancy. Tis sweet to know we'll meet again where partings are no more and that the ones we loved so well has only gone before.
